Where the ocean shapes both the land and the people
In the Faroe Islands, the sea is never far away. The relationship between the Faroese and the ocean is not just cultural, it is personal. It is the backdrop of Eyðbjørg's life, and it is what brought her to work at ELDI.
“Growing up in the Faroes, the ocean is very close. It's a very small society where everybody knows everyone.”
That closeness, that sense of mutual reliance, is something she carries into her work every day.
Nets, splicing, and the art of keeping things running
Eyðbjørg works in repair and manufacturing at ELDI Faroe Islands’ facility in Norðskála, specialising in nets and splicing. It is hands-on, skilled work - the kind that underpins the entire aquaculture industry, even if it rarely makes the headlines. Her days are filled with communication, logistics, and close coordination with colleagues across the team.
“A normal day is usually very busy. It's a lot of communication, planning and teamwork to make everything run smoothly.”
Busy, collaborative and purposeful - these qulities define what ELDI truly is as a workplace. The company operates 14 service stations across the world. Each one depends on people like Eyðbjørg, specialists who have built deep expertise and who take genuine pride in doing the work right.
For Eyðbjørg, working at ELDI is not just a job. It is a place she believes in. When asked what someone joining the company can expect, her answer is straightforward.
“If you work with ELDI, you can expect dedicated people who take pride in their work. In ten years, I see ELDI still growing through innovation and strong cooperation, while still keeping the high quality and reliability that the company stands for.”
At ELDI, we believe the strongest results are created where real customer needs meet deep expertise. That belief starts with the people who show up every day and do the work. People like Eyðbjørg.
